Portugese woman falls to her death in Panama

Ms. Macedo falling

On October 12, 2018, a woman died after falling to the pavement from the 27th floor of a building in the residential sector of El Cangrejo, in Panama City, Panama, where she sat on the railing of a balcony, holding a selfie stick.

Purportedly, the woman, identified as Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo, 27, from Portugal, was yelled at by construction workers on a nearby building to come down from the railing, but she ignored the warnings. Five minutes later she was surprised by a blow of wind and lost her balance.

A shocking video shows her falling from the railing, still holding her selfie stick, filmed by an onlooker.

A friend of the woman told media that she was a mother of two and had gone to Panama to work as a teacher.
