Two young men were run over by a train while taking a selfie on the railway tracks at Purushottampur railway crossing in Chunar area in Mirzapur district, India, on the afternoon of Friday, April 15th, 2016.

Reportedly, the two identified as Vinod (18) and Jitendra (20), from the Chandauli’s Semra village, had gone to Shivshankari Dham temple on Friday to celebrate Ram Navami, a Hindu festival.

While returning from the temple, they stopped at the railway tracks to take selfies, said police. They got so engrossed in the act that they could not hear or see the Brahmputra Mail train approaching on the same tracks.

“While the two youths were killed while clicking selfies on the railway tracks, a third person, who was a passenger on the train, died while leaning out of the bogey to see what had hit the train,” said an officer.
